Fiber Club

Membership for the August-October Hello Yarn Fiber Club is open now to returning members. You’ve all got spots reserved. Please purchase your membership by next Monday so I know how many slots to open up to new members. If you want to join but can’t this week, please let me know so I can make arrangements.

Membership will be open to new members next Monday, the 16th, bright and early at 10 am EST. If you are a new member, please wait until next Monday to purchase your membership. I will return your payment and cancel your membership if you are naughty and order early. I’ll remind you here on the blog when memberships become available.

Current fiber club members, your wool for this month will ship next week. I hope you love it!

Shop Update:

There will be a small shop update tomorrow. Sarah from Maisy Day Handspun sent hand-dyed lace weight yarns and some handspun, and I’ll have some Sock and Fat Sock available. We look forward to seeing you then.

Thank you all for the birthday wishes! I had a blast on my time off. Shoe shopping was done, fancy food was eaten, and I can now tell you that the new Die Hard movie is pretty damn good!

Long Knitting Weekend

I’m taking a long weekend off, starting today, so if you email or purchase anything in the shop between now and Sunday, expect a reply/ shipment on Monday.

I felt the need to get stuff organized before the wee vacation, so I have updates on three projects.

Spinning:

worsted weight
100% wool
8.4 oz., 471 yards total

From these batts, which were purchased at Spritely Goods. I spun up 4 bobbins of singles, two with a batt each, just split lengthwise and spun from the end. The other two bobbins were striped from batts I split into layers, then strips, and spun from the end. There’s just one big stripe of each of two colors in each skein. The stripes are nice and subtle in the skein. Lovely. When they’re really, truly dry, I’ll wind them into balls. I bet the stripe will show up better in a photo then.

Tomten:

Shoulder attempt #1 was a bust. It looked like I was wearing a shoulder pad on the outside of my arm. The arm narrowed far too quickly for my taste, as well, which I didn’t know until I seamed it. Jared of brooklyntweed helped immensely with this and I’ll be back on track, soon. I have faith in him!

Fantom Bohus:

I took the opportunity to rework the chart so that the pattern is a little fancier, since I was ripping the yoke, anyway. This is my smallest WIP, so this is what I’ll be working on over the weekend, as I travel around, shopping with my mom. It’s my birthday and even though I’m OLD, I get taken on fancy shopping trips. :)

See you all Monday! There’s going to be a shop update on Tuesday. It won’t be a crazy giant update like last time, but we’ll try to make it lovely. Have a wonderful weekend and holiday.

Thank You and Lisa with the Summer Wine

We’re a little dazed after yesterday, please forgive us!

I just want to thank all you lovely customers for emptying my house of all that yarn and fiber! After I get all your orders packaged and shipped, I might roll around on the floors of the empty rooms for a couple of days before making any more yarn. :)

This is a note for Julie with the single Summer Wine skein-

My emails to you keep bouncing back, but this is what you are looking for. Hopefully if you put my email (yarn at helloyarn.com) on your safe list, we can correspond properly.
