Cherry Garcia

cabled neck tube

*click to see it laid out flat*

What you need:

100 yards bulky weight 2 ply yarn (you can use single ply, but 2 ply makes the cables pop)

A size 11 US circular needle, 16” long (or whatever floats your boat for circular knitting)

A cable needle

Gauge:

4 sts. per inch in stockinette

5 sts. per inch in pattern

The cables and purl stitches create deep ribs so that this tube should fit over any size head and still be snug and warm on the neck.

Pattern:

Cast on 80 stitches, place marker and join.

Rows 1-8: *K8, P2, K8, P2* repeat around

Row 9: *C8B, P2, C8F, P2* repeat around

Row 10: *K8, P2, K8, P2* repeat around

Repeat these 10 rows twice more (for 3 cable twists total).  Continue in pattern and end on a row 5.  Bind off in pattern and sew in ends.

C8F = Slip 4 sts. onto a cable needle and hold to front of work.  K4, then K the 4 sts. off cable needle.

C8B = Slip 4 sts. onto a cable needle and hold to back of work.  K4, then K the 4 sts. off cable needle.
