Squirrel and Oak Mittens

get the free pattern (PDF)

You’ll need:

*yarn: Dale of Norway Hauk in 2 colors-one skein each, plus a bit of scrap yarn for thumb placement  (You can sub another sport weight wool if you prefer.  You'll need about 100 meters of each color.)

*needles: US 3 double pointed needles, or long circular for magic loop, or whatever size you need for gauge

* size: to fit a small/medium woman’s hand , 8" circumference, 12" tip to bottom edge

* gauge: 6 sts. and 6 rows = 1" in stockinette

*I'm thinking the best way to change the size would be to knit these in different yarn weights.  8 sts. per inch (fingering weight) would make one 6" around and 5 sts. per inch (worsted weight) would do 9.5" around, etc.
